The benefit of having T-shirt printed sublimation
What sublimation printing actually is
Sublimation is not printing on a t-shirt — it is printing into it. Using heat, the design is turned into a gas that bonds directly with the fibres of the fabric. There is no layer of ink sitting on top of the shirt, which is exactly why sublimated sportswear behaves so differently from anything printed the old way.
Why sublimation is built for sportswear
- It never cracks or peels. Because the colour becomes part of the fabric, there is nothing to flake off. A sublimated jersey looks the same after a full season of matches and washes as it did on day one.
- It stays breathable. Screen-print and vinyl add a heavy, airtight layer that traps heat. Sublimation leaves the fabric free to breathe and wick sweat — essential when players are working hard.
- The design is unlimited. Full-colour gradients, photographic detail, all-over patterns, individual names and numbers — sublimation handles complexity that other methods simply cannot, at no extra cost per colour.
- It is light. No thick print means nothing weighing the shirt down, so the gear feels like a second skin.
Sublimation vs. screen printing and vinyl
Screen printing is fine for a few colours on a cotton tee, but it cracks over time and struggles with detailed designs. Vinyl (heat transfer) peels at the edges and stiffens the fabric. Sublimation avoids both problems — the trade-off is that it works best on light polyester, which happens to be the ideal fabric for sport anyway.
Getting your own sublimated gear
If you want team kit that keeps its colours, stays cool and carries a design as bold as you like, sublimation is the method to ask for. At Panther every piece is sublimated on high-performance polyester, with no minimum order and production in 30 to 40 days from design approval. Send us your idea and we will show you how vivid it can be.
